Emancipation of Burk by Rebecca Hite, 1796

Be it known that I Rebecca Hite of Jefferson County and State of Kentucky, have and by these presents do Emancipate and set free a negro man named Burk, heretofore my slave, hereby giving up, from this day forward all power or authority that I heretofore have had over the said negroe an my Slave In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 2nd day of February 1796.

Then at a court held for Jefferson County March 6th 1796 this instrument in writing purporting to be a Deed of Emancipation was proved by the Oaths of Richard Edward &  William Kenney and ordered to be recorded.

Emancipation of Nanny by Robert Kearney Moore

Know all men by these presents that I Robert Moore Kearney  of the County of Jefferson in the state of Kentucky, for and in consideration of the service _____ me by my negro woman slave named Nanny the wife of negro Gilbert and considering it repugnant to natural right that any Human being should be compelled to under perpetual involuntary servitude do by these presents emancipate and set the said nanny free forever and I do hereby forever relinquish all power and authority over the said Nanny as a slave and do allow her all the privileges ______ and rights of a free woman to be enjoyed by her in as ample manner as if she had been born free. 

           In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of January eighteen hundred and two.
