Boone County Recorder:

Mr. A. O. Hall died suddenly, last Friday about 5 o'clock a.m. at the home of his son, F.A. Hall, in Burlington. Mr. Hall heard his father fall, when he ran to his room and found him lying on the floor partially dressed, it being about his usual time for rising in the morning. The old gentleman appeared in good health when he retired Friday night and nothing was heard of him during the night, so death evidently came without warning.

Mr. Hall was a son of T.B. Hall, a prominent Methodist devine at an early day. He was born in Maysville, Mason county, this State, on Mar 12th, 1824, consequently he was in his 85th year. He came to Burlington about 60 years ago, and for many years, followed his trade, that of tailor. In 1847 he married Miss Elizabeth Westbay, of Burlington. She died 11 years ago. To them were born nine children, those surviving being Thos. Hall, of Springfield, Ohio; Samuel, F.A., and Everett, of Burlington; Mrs. J.H. Slagle and Mrs. Leam Creager, of Loveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Richard White, of Burlington.

Mr. Hall was a member of the 55th Kentucky that took part for the Union during the rebellion. Since the death of his wife he made his home with his children, several of his last years being spent with his son Frank and family, where his every want was respected, and his last days made pleasant.

After a short service at the home, at 10 a.m., last Sunday, by Rev. Silth, the remains were taken to the I.O.O.F., cemetery and consigned to their last resting place by the side of those of his wife, and thus passes away the oldest male citizen of the town, and its only male resident who resided here before or during the civil war.

Mr. Hall was a pleasant, companionable gentleman and will be greatly missed by his numerous associates. Mr. Hall was never heard to complain and told Mrs. Hall the evening before his death that he was just as happy as he wished to be.
