Shelby Co.- GIBBS & THOMAS - I am researching the John GIBBS family that lived in Louisville in the early 1800's. John was supposedly born in Louisville around 1800, he married Lydia ALLEN and had a dau. Mary Agnes GIBBS(in Shelby Co.) in October 1835. Mary Agnes married an Albert THOMAS, he died in Shelby County. I would like to correspond with anyone researching the GIBBS family from this area.

Desire any information on the early settlers of the Dutch Fork Settlement of Shelby County, including Conrad PHILABAUM, wife Salome/Sarah aka Sally, Christiana PHILABAUM who married George LEFFLER, also info re Jacob Leffler Sr & Jr, including wives of same if info available. Louisa LEFFLER, a daughter of Jacob (which ?) born ca 1803/05 married William S(amuel) WALKER and they moved to Washington County, Indiana where their many children were born and lived. William S(amuel) Walker was also in Shelby County as a young lad with his mother Jane Burton WALKER and his siblings Ann, Sarah who married Alexander MCCORMICK, and Thomas Burton WALKER who married Nancy WOODRUFF. Jane Burton Walker's brother Prettyman Burton had guardianship of the 4 children of his sister Jane when she passed away in or around 1816. Jane was widowed in 1806 and when she moved to Shelby County with her 4 young children in 1810, she remarried in 1811 to Nathaniel HANKINS. When did Jane die - actual/prox date, where is she buried. Did she have children of the 2nd marriage. Nothing is known of Jane or of her death except that Thomas, the youngest, said he was 9 years old when his mother died.
