McKell High School is now McKell Middle School. All the High Schools in Greenup County, which consisted of Wurtland, Greenup and McKell consolidated into Greenup County High School. The first graduating class for the consolidated Greenup County High School was 1974. The School colors for McKell High School were blue and gold. McKell High School was located on US 23 in South Shore and still is; but is now McKell Middle School. The grade school is directly on the other side of US 23.
