Johns(t)on of Somerset, KY. Appears to have owned quite a bit of property in Somerset, and
in the 1880's he built a building known as "Johnson Block" which housed a drug store,

second floor. Building burned in 1913.

History of Pulaski County Education
Posted By: Dexter Alexander <dexalex@earthlink.net>
Date: 8 August 2000

I am looking for information on common schools or academies in Pulaski County 1820-1860,
with particular emphasis on financial information.

The bounds of militia companies, as they existed on March 4, 1822, were used to establish
the first fourteen county school districts. A map or description of these bounds is needed.

A map or description of the county school districts established 1840-1842, under the 1838
law establishing a general system of common schools in Kentucky is needed.

In "History of Pulaski County", Clarice Payne Rainey, 1935, University of Kentucky, refers
to a collection of common school reports through 1852 maintained by Cyrenius Wait. In 1935
these papers, including financial reports, were in "the possession of his (Cyrenius Wait)
grandchildren", according to Ms. Rainey's Thesis. I would appreciate any information on the
location of these papers.

family. The Sears family was in 1790s Rowan Co.,NC with my Herrins and were in Wake Co. and
Orange Co. before that as both Sears and Searles. The Chatham Co., NC and Georgia bunch
became Sorrells. They hailed from Essex Co., VA in the 1600s as Searles.

find a small amount more about. Can you advise on tracing my Grandfather Reuben F. Sears.

Wilson Stone. I think their parents were James Stone and Christeny (don't have maiden
name)I wish I could give you proof of this, but the only thing I have is the 1860 Pulaski
County Census showing Alfred 34 and Ibby 31 enumerated just above James 75 and China? C.
70. My grandfather Wilson 29 and wife Nancy 28 listed below James. The 1870 Pulaski Census
lists Wilson Stone with Christeny ( China C. ?)83 living with him and family. James,
Christeny,Wilson and Alfred were all born in N. Carolina. If you have anything to add, would
