NOTES: Mary Ann "Polly" BURTON had told her children
and grandchildren that her mother Rachel was captured and
kidnapped by a band of indians and then sold to a band of
Cherokees. The Chief took her for his wife and Mary Ann was the
child of this marriage..They escaped/rescued when Mary Ann was a
young child. She told other stories of their life among the
indians. Mary Ann "Polly" Burton married her white
cousin Dyer Daniel BURTON.
