BENJAMIN SHERMAN MURPHY


BEN MURPHY DIES
AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Ben Murphy, 75, of Murphy Fork, died at the West Liberty Hospital last
Thursday after a long illness.

He is survived by: two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Nickell of West Liberty,
and Mrs. Victor Nickell of Lexington; and sons: Charles Murphy of
Campton; Earl Murphy of West Liberty; Courtney Murphy of Murphy Fork;
Raymond Murphy of Lexington; and Harry Murphy of Dayton, Ohio; one
brother: Frank Murphy, of Chandler, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was conducted Sunday at the home at which more than 200 Masons
conductd Masonic rites. The Rev. Harlen Murphy and the Rev. Wm. Pope
officiated. Interment was in charge of Potter Funeral home and was made
in the Ben Murphy Family Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy was well known and highly respected thoughout Eastern Kentucky.

(He was the son of James Henry "Harry" Murphy and Martha E. Baker. He
married Zarilda Elizabeth Vest on 9 Apr 1894 in Morgan Co., KY. She was
born 19 Sept 1876 at Flat Gap,Morgan Co., KY and died 20 March 1947 at
Murphy Fork, Morgan Co., KY. Her parents were David Woodson Vest and
Nancy Jane Greear (daugher of Hiram and Zarilda Higginbotham Greear.)
