ASA C. ELAM


Asa C. Elam, 61, Dies
At Mt. Sterling, March 27

Asa C. Elam, 61, retired harness and saddle maker, died on Sunday night,
March 27 at his home at Mt. Sterling after an illness of several
months. A native of Morgan county, he was a son of the late Oliver and
Ellen Howerton Elam.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Mann Elam; four daughters: Mrs. Lester Nelson aof Fairfax, Minn.; Mrs. William Clay Burns of Mt. Sterling; Mrs. Robert Geary of Winchester; and Miss Florence Elam of cincinnati; one son, Asa C. Elam, Jr. of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Mrs. C. T. Miller of Louisville; two brothers: Granville Elam, Mt. Sterling, and James Jasper Elam of Dayton, Oh., two grandchildren, and an aunt, Mrs. Willie A. Elam of Index.

Funeral services were held at the residence at 3:30 o’clock Wednesday
afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Oren D. Thrasher. Burial was in
Machpelah cemetery.

(He was the grandson of Preston Howerton and Cynthia Ann Fugett.)
