NICKELL, ALTHA K.

Altha Kash Nickell, 91, widow of Lexie B. Nickell , died Thursday, December 8, 2005. Mrs. Nickell was a former school teacher and housewife. She was born in Morgan County, Kentucky on February 8, 1914 a daughter of the late Caleb Stephen and Georgia Ann Carpenter Kash. Survivors include one daughter, Lois Ann Howard and husband Tommie of Flemingsburg ; three sons, Larry G. Nickell and wife Sue of Ruleville, Mississippi , Conrad M. Nickell and wife Mary, and Rayburn Nickell and wife Sue, all of Flemingsburg ; one sister, Elizabeth Reed of Raleigh, North Carolina ; 8 grandchildren ; and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Altha was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Roy M. Kash ; and three sisters, Rena Pattison, Opal Farmer, and Hazel Kash. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Roy W. Machen II officiating. Burial in the Fleming County Cemetery with Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Cancer Care Club, P. O. Box 21, Ewing, Kentucky 41039 or the Hospice organization of one`s choice.

NICKELL, GERALDINE

Geraldine “ Gerry “ Nickell was born December 6, 1939 in Ironton,Ohio. She departed this life on Friday, December 9, 2005 at her home in Franklin, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Flora Howard of Logville , the daughter-in-law of Gladys C. Nickell of Mize and the late Everett L. Nickell ; and a niece of Donald and Myrtle Anderson of West Liberty. In addition to her parents and father-in-law, Gerry was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny B. Howard and a sister, Margarine Howard. Additional survivors include her husband, Roger L. Nickell to whom she was married on March 23, 1959 ; a daughter, Regina Sams and husband Jim ; grandson, Jeffrey and granddaughter, Rachel ; a son, Reic D. Nickell and wife Cindy ; and her grandbabies, Natalie, Draven, and Alivia ; two brothers, Paul Howard and wife Maxine and Troy Howard and wife Barbara ; one sister, Christine Short. Gerry was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her. She was retired after some 30 years in the dry cleaning business. Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 12 at 1 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church in Middletown, Ohio where she had been a member for more than 35 years. Pastor Clay Colwell officiated at the service. Burial followed at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio with Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, Inc. of Middletown, Ohio in charge of arrangements. NOLAN, BRENDA A.

Brenda Ann Nolan, 58, of Nolan Road, Frenchburg, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at her residence. She was born August 21, 1947 in Powell County, Kentucky a daughter of the late Isaac Thomas McCoy and Orpha Sparks McCoy Stewart. She was a homemaker and mother , a member of Pine Grove Community Church, Ezel, Kentucky. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband , Randell Joe Nolan ; and one sister, Vergie Bishop. Survivors include two daughters, Julie and Jack Kilgore of Frenchburg and Shelia and Oscar Patrick of Denniston ; two grandchildren, Emily Patrick and Noah Patrick ; two step-grandchildren, Sandy Brashear and John Kilgore ; four sisters, Flora Profitt of Ravenna, Betty Noble of Stanton, Patricia Rogers of Salt Lick, and Nola Browning of Logansport, Indiana. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10 at Menifee Home For Funerals with Bro. Dennis Flannery and Bro. Garrie Stamper officiating. Burial followed in the Egelston Cemetery at Mariba with Menifee Home for Funerals of Frenchburg in charge of arrangements. Friends and relatives were pallbearers.

NORDSWORTHY, GLADYS

Gladys Irene Karrick Nordsworthy, 92 , widow of Rev. James A. Nordsworhty, died Saturday, February 11, 2006. She was born in Cliff Top, West Virginia. Soon after her birth she moved back to Kentucky where she lived the remainder of her life. Mrs. Nordsworthy was a retired teacher having taught in Bath, Robertson, Mason, Harlan, Morgan, Bracken, Nicholas, and Perry County School systems. She was a member of the Central Kentucky Retired Teacher`s Association, Madison County Retired teacher`s Association, United Methodist Women`s Club, and Bluegrass Writer`s Club, the Associaition of Retired Minister`s and Spouses, the K.E.A. and N.E.A., and taught Sunday school for sixty years. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Doug Norsworthy and wife Bettye of Flemingsburg and Jim Nordsworthy and wife Jerrylynn of Prospect ; one brother, Cecil Karrick ; a grandchild, Lorie Ellyn Nordsworthy ; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 14 at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home with Gene Strange, Stan Schillfarth, and Robert Wallace officiating. Burial followed in the Pinehill Cemetery in Corbin with Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Directors of Richmond in Charge of arrangements. Members of the Sunday school class served as pallbearers.
