Bessie May Lake Shouse age 88 widow of W.C. Shouse departed this life on Friday September 3, 2004 at her residence on Scaffold Cane Road in Berea. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents Tom Jim and Hallie Lake, a grandson Joshua Hale, a sister Mattie L. Pigg, and half brother Bill Malicote.

Bessie leaves to mourn her passing one son Kenneth (Rita) Shouse, her four daughters Janet Marlene (Joe) Hagan, Phyllis Burns, Peggy (Danny) Thompson, Shirley (Jim) Thompson, her grandchildren Greg (Sherry) Hagan, Susan Hale, Robby (Melissa) Burns, Kimberlee (Steve) Sutton, Jason (Amy) Abney, Scott (Becky) Abney, Emily Shouse, her great grandchildren Tyler Hagan, Nick Burns, Lane Abney, and Brinkley Abney.

Services for Bessie will 2:00pm Saturday September 4, 2004 at the Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with Bro. Earl VanWinkle officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Hagan, Robby Burns, Steve Sutton, Jason Abney, Scott Abney and Perry Williams. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00pm Friday September 3, 2004 at the funeral home.
