ROSE, Irma G. Williams

HAMILTON — Irma G. Rose was a “warm, giving person,” according to her son, Wayne Rose of Hamilton.

“She was a wonderful mother,” he said. “She took care of her family.”

Rose died Tuesday at The Fort Hamilton Hospital at age 95. She was born Sept. 28, 1908, in Richmond, Ky., the daughter of John D. and Sally (Bumgarden) Williams.

She was married to Thomas E. Rose, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1971. She was a member of Lindenwald United Methodist Church. She used to babysit her great-grandchildren, Dave and Loren Bowling, when they were young, according to her son.

She also enjoyed traveling. She would go on short trips “all over,” to places such as the Smoky Mountains, with her friends Cleo and Paul Tiernan.

Also survived by sisters Caroline Bouten and Berti Lee Harris, both of Hamilton; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Thomas E. Rose, Jr.; grandson Maurice Goebel; and three brothers, Robert, Frank and Elmer Williams.

Friends may call for visitation from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder Manor Retirement Center, 1302 Millville Ave., with Pastor Barry Burns officiating.

Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. The Webb Noonan Funeral Home is serving the family.
