John Day, Ore.

Harry E. Pennington, 83, of John Day, Ore., formerly of Madison County, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Health Services in Baker City.

Harry was born, Nov. 7, 1920, to the late Harry E. and Mary Ellen (Campbell) Pennington, in Krypton, near Hazard.

He was a retired Lt. Colonel and Air Force veteran of WWII, Korean and Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beulah Neeley Pennington; a daughter, Linda O'Conner of Nashotah, Wis.; a daughter, Judy Grubbs of John Day, Ore., and a son, Harry A. Pennington, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at the Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Richmond Cemetery, where military honors will be observed. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
