Barbour, Bernice Lewis

Bernice Lewis Barbour, 90, 4880 Tates Creek Road, widow of Dr.Roger William Barbour, died Tuesday July 15, 2003 at the Madison Manor Nursing Home in Richmond. She was a retired Mathematics Teacher at Tates Creek High School, born in Rowan County, Kentucky daughter of the late John Anders and Sarah Adams Lewis. Mrs. Barbour was a graduate of Morehead State University and a member of Park United Methodist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. Surviving are two sons,Roger William Barbour, Jr. Lexington, Dr.James Lewis Barbour [JoAnn] Elon, North Carolina, one daughter, Marsha Hale [E. Carroll], Richmond, Kentucky, two sisters, Ruby Vencill, Morehead, Juanita Gais, Florissant, Missouri, eight grandchildren, E. Carroll Hale 3rd, Marsha Hale Fight, Cecelia Hale Wanchic, Laura Hale Donovan, Michael J. Hale, Patrick R. Hale, Jesse Caleb Barbour and Josiah Benjamin Barbour, nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be 10 A.M.Monday at the W.R.Milward Mortuary-Broadway conducted by Dr.Harold Dorsey with burial in the Lexington Cemetery. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.Sunday.
