The Fearless, Efficient and Popular Sheriff of Lee County
Lee county, in all probability, never in it's history, had a more popular, efficient and painstaking sheriff than at the present time, and it is with unstinted praise that we speak of Sheriff Jas. P. SIZEMORE.
He was born on a farm in Clay county, Ky., Dec. 30, 1873. Upon coming to this section he first located in Proctor - just across the Kentucky river - 1879. soon thereafter ____ ____ of Beattyville.
His first experience as an officer of the law was that of Town Marshal of Beattyville for two years. He was made the nominee of the Republican party in the primary election held 16 August, 1903, for the office of Sheriff of Lee county, and regularly elected at the following November election of that year. Sheriff SIZEMORE has discharged his duty without fear or favor, yet accommodating to all to the limit of his resources and energy, and he has sought in every way to fully sustain the trust the people have reposed to him.
The Republican primary now being on, he is today asking an endorsement of his record, and it is safe to say the candidate that defeats him will have to llok well to his laurels. A Republican who has at all times been in harmony with the issues and principles of his party, he is also a Mason, Odd Fellow, Red man, K. of P. and Junior.
Sheriff SIZEMORE was married to Miss Vania JENNINGS, of Owsley county, on Aug. 7, 1890, when he was but 16 years of age. Six children have been born to them - five living, one dead.
