Virginia Mae Brock, 82, Corbin, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2003 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was active in Women on Mission until her illness. She was a member of Whitley County Harmony Homemakers Club. Earlier, she was a 25-year-member of South Fairborn Baptist Church, Fairborn, Ohio where she taught the ladies Sunday School class and was a GA's and Acteens leader. She had served as director of Vacation Bible School and was President of the WMU. She was an adopted grandmother to many of the girls she taught, and remained in contact with many friends all across the USA until her death.

She was born April 24, 1921, a daughter of the late Alvis and Eliza Hairrell. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Rufus, James and Wayman Hairrell; two sisters, Nora Baxterand Eloise Vance; and a grandchild, Karl Joseph Thomas.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Drexel Brock; three daughters, Betty Philpot of Corbin, Wanda Thomas and husband, Robert of Rockhold and Dorothy Martin and husband, Kenneth of Corbin; three sisters, Jeanette Anders of Corbin, Atolia Eaton of Woodbine and Bena Rae Lee and husband, Darden of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; ten grandchildren - granddaughters, Debbie Keaton and husband, Bill, and Rita Puckett and husband, Lester, both of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Gail Thomas of Newport News, Virginia, Janie Thomas of Williamsburg, Virginia Florence and husband, Dan of Winchester, grandsons: Gary Thomas and wife, Debra, John Thomas, and Randy Thomas, all of Fairborn, Ohio, Fred Thomas and wife, Becky of Lily, Robert Martin and wife, Charlene of Spotsylvania, Virginia; 27 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and special friends who mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 31 at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Skeen, Robert Thomas and Gail Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Thomas Cemetery at Rockhold.

Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
