BARBOURVILLE - GEORGE WILLIAM SEARS, 84, Glasgow, formerly of Little Poplar Creek, retired freight checker for U.S. Trucking Co. in Detroit, World War II veteran, widower of Lois Teague Sears, died Friday. Services 1 p.m. Wednesday, Croley Cemetery, Bryants Store. Arrangements, Knox Funeral Home.

GEORGE WILLIAM SEARS, 84, of Glasgow, formerly of Little Poplar Creek, passed away Friday, May 10, 2002 in the T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow. He was a son of the late John C. and Lula Mae Ohler Sears, born on Oct. 5, 1917 in Knox County. Mr Sears was a retired freight checker from the U.S. Trucking company in Detroit, Mich. He was a member of the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church and the Teamsters Local 299 in Detroit. He united in marriage with Marie Ferguson and one child was born. They both preceded him in death. In October 1954, he united in marriage with Lois Teague and to this union one daughter was born. He is survived by his daughter, Jimmie Lou Evans and husband, Larry, of Little Poplar Creek; two sisters, Patsy Prichard and husband Kenneth of Springfield, Ohio, and Estil Golden of Dayton, Ohio; one grandson. Graveside services were held in the Croley Cemetery at Bryants Store, Wednesday, May 15 with the Rev. Arnold Petrey officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Knox Funeral Home.
