Roberta GREGORY RHODES

Mrs. Roberta Gregory Rhodes, 80, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Wednesday morning, September 20, 2006 at her home. She was a daughter of the late John Tilmon and Ruth Nelle Martin Gregory born on November 30, 1925 in Knox County. Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith. On June 3, 1949, she united in marriage with John M. Rhodes in Jeffersonville, Ind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John, on May 19, 1998; and three brothers, William, Edward A. and John G. Gregory. Survivors include her son, Steven Rhodes and wife, Vivian, of Pacifica, CA; a sister, Gwen Stewart and husband, Ted, of Middletown, OH; a brother, Harold Gregory and wife, Maxola, of Walker; a grandson, Steven John Rhodes; her sisters-in-law, Orma Gregory of Murfreesboro, TN, Edith Gregory of Barbourville and Nancy Gregory of Grand Rapids, MI; several special nieces and nephews and special grand nieces and grand-nephews; a very special cousin, Billie Jean Robinson and husband, Chuck, of New Market, TN; a special friend, Midge Sampley and husband, W. C., of Chattanooga, TN; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing.

Her funeral service was conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, September 23 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Arthur Wilson officiating. Mrs. Rhodes was laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Casket bearers were William Newt Gregory, Edward "Skip" Gregory, Randy Gregory, Matt Gregory, Clif Gregory, Kevin Gregory, Walter T. Gregory and Todd Stewart. Honorary bearers were Ted Stewart, Greg Perkins, Marc Etchison, Randall Jackson, Chuck Robinson and W. C. Sampley. Expressions of sympathy may go to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in loving memory of Mrs. Rhodes. Arrangements were under the direction of Knox Funeral Home.
