Rebecca Smith POWELL

Rebecca Smith Powell, 72, Melvindale, Mich., formerly of Knox County, wife of Estill C. Powell, died Monday, June 25, 2007 in Oakwood Hospital, Dearborn. Service Hopper Funeral Home June 30; burial Carnes Cemetery. Arrangements Hopper Funeral Home.


Rebecca Irene Powell (June 26, 1934 - June 25, 2007)

Rebecca Irene Smith Powell 72, of Melvindale, Michigan and formerly of Knox County, Kentucky, was born on June 26, 1934 at Baughman, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Joe Smith and Bertha King Smith. Mrs. Powell died Monday, June 25, 2007 in the Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan. On December 23, 1949, she united in marriage to Estil C. Powell and to this union four children were born. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Estil, Her Sisters, Hattie Powell and Margaret Smith Moore and a Brother, Pascal Smith.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her Children; Cleve Daniel Powell of Melvindale, Michigan; Charles Eugene Powell and wife, Carol of Dearborn, Michigan; Timothy Powell of Melvindale, Michigan and Brenda Gies and husband, William of Wyandotte, Michigan; Her eleven Grandchildren; eleven Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. Her Brother, Walter Smith and wife, Christine of Bimble and many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services for Rebecca Irene Smith Powell will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.,with Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Carnes Cemetery at Baughman, Kentucky with family members serving as pallbearers. The Powell Family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home, Friday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday after 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements will be under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
