JAMES L. GREEN, 92, of Murray and formerly of Knox County, passed away Friday, April 19, 2002 in the Jenny Stuart Medical Center In Hopkinsville. He was the husband of the late Mary Pickard Greene. A complete obituary will be in next week's paper. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

JAMES GREEN, age 92, of Murray, and formerly of Barbourville, died Friday, April 19, 2002 in the Jenny Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. He was the son of the late Louis Tom and Mary Elizabeth Greene, born to them on March 11, 1910 at Pineville Kentucky. Mr. Greene was a retired carpenter, a member of the first Baptist church of Murray, and a United States Army veteran, serving his country during World War II.

On November 8,1941, he united in marriage to Mary Pickard, and to this union a son, Jimmy Lee Greene was born. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Pickard Greene on October 31,1997, and his son: Jimmy Lee Green in 1990. Surviving Mr. Greene is his loving granddaughter, Kimberly and friend, David Wagoner; and his loving great granddaughter: Amanda Nicole Greene, both of Murray; his brother: Reid Greene and wife, Lola, of Havanah, Fla.; and his two sisters: Dorothy Vansant of St. Louis, Mo.; and Marie Jones and husband, the Rev. Eldon Jones, of Cheyene, Wyo.

Funeral services for James L. Greene were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 24,2002 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Devil Taylor, Jr. and his-brother in-law the Rev. Elton Jones officiating. Burial was in the Mayhem Cemetery at Sharps Gap, Barbourville. Those serving as pallbearers were, family-and friends of the Greene family.

Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
