ALICE MAE KYKER GREEN, 84, passed away Wednes-day, April 24, 2002 in State College, Pennsylvania. She was a former resident of Corbin, Knoxville, Tennessee and Sweetwater, Tennessee.

Born June 1, 1917 in the Fenders area of Sweetwater, she was the daughter of the late Marshall K. Kyker and Maude Lee Ethridge Kyker.

On May 14, 1938 in Bradley County, Tennessee, she married William Fletcher Greene, Jr. who passed away September 19, 1997.

As a result of her personality and personal qualities, Alice's friends crossed generations. Children loved her for her vivid storytelling; teenagers found a compassionate listening ear; younger adults related to a fun loving, up-to-date friend; and her comtemporaries could depend on her as a caring, empathetic Christian comforter. She was admired most for being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Alice had a variety of interests including cooking, knitting, ceramics, and decorating.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Patricia Greene Herr, and her son-in-law, Edwin L. Herr, of State College; and three grandchildren, Amber L. Herr of Charlotte, North Carolina, Christopher A. Herr of Chicago, Illinois and Alicia E. (Herr) Hess of Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 27 with Dr. Barry Howard officiating. Interment followed in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the elevator fund of First Baptist Church, 401 N. Laurel Avenue, Corbin, KY 40701 or to the National Stroke Association, c/o O'Neil Funeral Home, 204 N. Kentucky Street, Corbin, KY 40701 who is in charge of arrangements.
