Obie David DAVIS

Obie David Davis, 89, of Boone Height, was born on September 1, 1916 at Mills, Ky. He was a son of the late Rev. Francis Marion Davis and Eliza Gray Davis. Mr. Davis died Saturday, August 19, 2006 in the Knox County Hospital. He was a member of the Roadside Baptist Church. Mr. Davis was a retired logger and carpenter.
On December 24, 1936, he united in marriage to Elizabeth Baker and to this union five children were born. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by, a son, Ernest Dean; his sisters, Martha Baker, Margaret Ann Gray, Berta Baker, Esther Wolfe, Alma Mills, Emma Slusher, Litha Mills, Mary Jackson and Arizona Davis, and his brothers, James Wesley, Willie Mitchell, Amos Robert, Francis Marion Davis Jr. and Benny.
Surviving Mr. Davis, his loving wife, Elizabeth Davis of Boone Height; His children, Nadine Smith and husband Joe Boone of Boone Height, Carloyn Sue Bell and husband Mike of Fairborn, Ohio, and Kay Miceli and husband Frank of Barbourville; his son, General (Bill) Davis and wife Alice of London; his 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; a special niece, Helen Davis and husband Charles of Boone Height; special friends Virgil and Linda Beverly and dear caregivers, Genople Robinson and Barbara Powell.
Funeral services for Obie David Davis were conducted in the Roadside Baptist Church at Boone Height, Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rick Partin, Rev. Denvil Taylor and grandson, Rev. Josh Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Davis Cemetery at Acorn Fork, in Knox County.
Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Davis. Honorary pallbearers were: Members of the Roadside Baptist Church, the staff at the Knox County Hospital and the staff at the Barbourville Nursing Home.
The Davis family have requested contributions may be made to the Roadside Baptist Church or to the Gideons in loving memory of Obie David Davis.
Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
