JAMES CARTY FROM THE SPRINGFIELD (OH) NEWS-SUN 1/11/08


James W. Carty, 76, of Springfield, OH died January 9, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born February 26, 1931 in Barbourville, KY, the son of Speed and Rose (Allan) Carty. He served in the United States Army for twenty-one years retiring in 1968. He served as Presidential Guard for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, President John Kennedy and President Lyndon B. Johnson. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and numerous other medals. He loved to fish, hunt, gardening and taking care of his animals. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Mildred L. (Hale) Carty; four sons and daughters-in-law, James "Mike" and Clelia Carty of Urbana, OH, David W. Carty of Springfield, OH, Joseph S. and Christy Carty of Springfield, William "Todd" Carty and Sandy Holloway of Pitchin, OH; daughter-in-law, Kim M. Carty of South Charleston, OH; sister, Mary T. Eisnaugle of Dayton, OH; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Janale and Bill Jones, Julie and Bobby Lyons, Jennifer Carty, Stephen Carty, Christopher Carty, Nicholas Carty, Zachary Carty, Bradley Dunn and Mekayla Carty; four great-grandchildren, Kashanda, Skyler, Stephanie and Anthony; fishing buddies, George, Harold, Herman, Charlie, Leon, Jerry and many others. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Lee Chambliss; brother-in-law, Loren E. Eisnaugle. A gathering of family and friends will be held January 13, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. January 14, 2008 with Pastor Craig Grammer of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Intensive Care Unit Staff at WPAFB Medical Center.
