Mrs. Martha CARNES

Mrs. Martha Carnes, age 84 of Walker, Ky. departed this life on Friday-June 23, 2006 in the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was the wife of Eli Carnes, united in marriage on December 25, 1938 and to this union ten children were born. Mrs. Carnes was the daughter of Nasby Mills and Minnie (Smith) Mills born to them May 26, 1922 in Knox Co. Ky. She was a member of the Walker Baptist church. She loved reading her Bible, doing her puzzle books and being with her family. Mrs. Carnes was preceded in death by her parents Nasby and Minnie Mills, one daughter Minnie Carnes, one brother Dewey Mills, one sister Juanita Carnes and two grandchildren Connie Broughton and Curtis Eugene Walker. Survivors Include: Her husband: Eli Carnes of Walker, Ky. Nine children: Anna Mae Messer and husband Waymon of Walker, Ky. Ruby Carter and husband Jimmy of Wise, VA. Oscar Carnes and wife Lydia Ann of Walker, Ky. Wanda Mills and husband Wayne of Bimble, Ky. Harold Carnes and wife Donna of Walker, Ky. Norma Messer and husband Vernon of Walker, Ky. Tammy Walker and her late husband Doug of Flat Lick, Ky. Sammy Ray Carnes and wife Sherry of Walker, Ky. Pamela Hubbard and husband Carl Dewayne of Barbourville, Ky. Twenty-Two grandchildren: Leonard Messer, Debbie Bargo, Patricia Watts, Peggy Smith, Robbie Messer, Byron Carter, Martha Marie Sexton, Carol Mullins, Scott Carnes, Oscar Carnes, Charles Ray Carnes, Brenda McCarthy, Linda Berdick, John Wayne Milles, Harold Eli Travis Carnes, Shonona Michele Gray, Trita Brown, Jerry Dewayne Messer, Veronica Slusher, Wade Douglas Walker, Dustin Ray Carnes, and Carl Dewayne Hubbard, Jr. Thirty One Great Grandchildren, and three great grandchildren Four sisters: Victoria, Elizabeth, Darlene and Irene Nine brothers: Rudolf, Randal, Silas, O.V., Norm, Raymond, Arvil Lee, J.C., and General Mrs. Carnes also leaves behind a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services for Mrs. Carnes will be Monday-June 26, 2006 at 4 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Abner and Rev. Donnie Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be George Carnes III, Oscar "Peanut" Carnes, Charles Ray Carnes, Travis Carnes, Alvin Brown, John Wayne Mills, Carl Dewayne Hubbard, Jr., Wade Douglas Walker, Robbie Messer, and Jeremy Scott Messer. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow in the Carnes Cemetery at Walker, Ky. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. READ SUNDAY: Friends will be received tonight at the Hampton Funeral Home after 5 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at 4 p.m. READ MONDAY: Friends will be received today at the Hampton Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 4 p.m. To the family of Mrs. Carnes, the staff of the Hampton Funeral Home would like to offer you our heartfelt sympathy during your time of bereavement.
