Land Grant between Jesse Broughton, Grantor and Daniel Stewart, Grantee recorded in Deed Book C Page 443 on the 22nd day of December 1825 by James F. Ballinger

This indenture made the 13th day of August A. D. eighteen hundred and twenty five, by and between Jesse Brawton of the County of Knox of the one part and Daniel Stewart of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars in silver here after to be paid the said Jesse Brawton, he hath granted bargained and sold and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Daniel Stewart of Clay County a certain tract of land situate lying and being in the County of Knox and on the waters of Goose Creek, it being the land whereon Jesse Brawton now lives and also it being a part of the 36,000 acres entered surveyed and patented in the name of John Lewis, containing one hundred acres and bounded as followeth, north, Beginning at a white oak marked on a corner between Jesse Brawton & Edwin Hammons running thence southwardly to hickory & Service, thence southward to a Buckeye and beech, thence north west to a Buckeye & ash, thence North East to a White Oak & Sugar tree. Thence to the Beginning Corner, the course and distance not being now, nor measured, but the corner being marked and the quantity of acres being a hundred, more or less. To have, and to hold the said tract of land unto him the said Daniel Stewart his heirs and assigns free from him the said Jesse Brawton his heirs � and I the said Jesse Brawton do warrant and forever defend from all and every person claiming the same or any part there of to him the said Daniel Stewart his heirs & reenters and assigns forever. I so certify that on the 22nd day of September 1825, Jesse Brawton and Susan his wife acknowledged before me the foregoing Indenture of bargain & to be their act and deed. The said Susan being by me examined separate & apart from her said husband touching her right of dower in and to the said land in the deed mentioned which she freely and voluntarily relinquished � and the said deed is truly entered of record in my office � given under my hand this 22nd day of December 1825.
