The Last Will and Testament

of

Wm. J. Maddin

This is the last will and testament of Wm. J. Maddin of Brinkley, Ky. I direct that all my just debts funeral and any more due expenses be paid and satisfied by my executor or administrator hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my death. Also what I will to my dear children and wife as trustee specified in this my last will according to their age. I give devise and bequeath all my lands as follows to be divided between my children or money I will to you in stead of land being my will to decide in this way my will is as follows.

First: Susana Madden age 7 years old I will a parcel of land bounded as follows on Irishman creek waters of Carrs fork of the north fork of my (?...?) beginning on a Buckeye about 100 yards from house and (?...?) running strait line to a clift below (Carrs fork) then middle of point to top of hill thence down ridge with my line to Albert Maddin's line thence with Albert's line down hill to and around his line up hill to a clift on (?rock lick hollow?) on point thence a straight line to creek near a large (?branded white oak thence down the creek to the beginning being 50 A. more or less to be his when he reaches the age of 21 years and then full possession to him and his heirs forever being place in the hands of my (?administrator or trustee?) of him (?...?) hereafter name to be my will.

Second Boy: David Jessie Maddin age 13 I will a parcel of land beginning as follows on same Buckeye my younger son Sa(?...?) Maddins line begins running with same to top of hill thence to ridge to the licking gap to another oak thence down hill with (?...?) line to Lucinda Collins line to a birch and with her line to the creek, thence up the creek to a birch opposite a drain about 100 yards above (?JM?) Collins house, thence with drain to top of (?Rock Lick Knob?) to a (?chestnut oak?) and some (?...?) thence with Albert Maddins to clift and point or Sa(?..?) line thence with Sa(?..?) line to the beginning

(?...?) more or less to have full control of at the age of 21 years old (?...?) and his heirs forever my will to be in the hand of my administrator or executor till that age heretofore named (?...?) as (?...?) in this my will.

Third 1st girl: Rhoda Cornett I will to her after my (?...?) be paid twenty 5 (?...?) dollars to be her part in land I have already given to her (?...?) and its this is to be by what I (?place?) in the hand of my (?widow?) death this is my last will.

Fourth 2nd girl: Manda Caudill age 17 years I will to one hundred dollars to be paid to her after (?....?) or give to be her part in the (hand that ?...?) her at that age(?...?)

Fifth (3 girl): Nancy Maddin age 15 yrs.

I will to her Two Hundred dollars $200 to be paid to her by my ex or admin hereinafter named out of amount I placed in his hand for such when she reaches the age of 21 years this is in place of land and cause of (?...?)

Sixth (4 girl): Martha Maddin age 11 yrs. I will to her one hundred dollars to be paid to her by my ex or admin hereinafter named that I put in his hands for such when she reaches the age of 21 years and this is my last will to be

Seventh: (5 girl) Phoeba Jane Slone I will to her (?three?) acres of land next to Sam Pigmans line described by deed to be her part in land, this is my will.

Eight (6 girl) Lucinda Collins I will to her one dollar to be paid by my executor or admin. out of amount I place in his hands hereinafter named to be her part in land with land and property I have heretofore give and signed to her this is my last will.

Ninth: My will is that the remainder of my land from Jessie Maddens and Lucinda Collins line up to Sam Pigmans except 3 (?) of Phoeba Slones to fall in the hands of my executor or administrator to sell timber and same and land (?f...? to?) off money will I have heretofore named and remainder to go to the benefit of my younger children till they obtain the age of 21 yrs for clothing and education and its as my executors hereinafter mentioned or survivors of same see fit said land to be converted into money by executors or admin. timber also the same my executors (?sig?) as to be good to these (?..rts?) whether by auc. or private contract to be my will this is my last will.

Also property and money debts notes in my possession or the possession of other money in the Bank and from all (?sources?), I give my executors heretofore named authority to (?lift?) and collect (?...?) & its to see over and take care of for the benefit of my wife and children and pay my debts see they do not destroy or convey anything without his consent except my mules and wagon to fall in the hands of J.D. Collins and Hazard Slone, the mule I bought to fall in the hands of J.D. Collins the one I raised to fall in the hands of Hazard Slone at my decease to be theirs forever use and keep as long as they choose to keep them. While they stay near my family they are to let use them when it is necessary to (?will planted?) both alike to another they (?..............is the ..........?) my will. (?...?)

to rent lands and to see to the care of said (?...?) to my two sons hereinafter named to go to their benefit of others under age as admin see fit those under (?apt?...) at (?pres.?) that I want to be and after is to (?...?) Jessie, Samuel, Nancy, and Martha Maddin also my dear wife Louisa Maddin and I do hereby name constitute and appoint D.J. Maddin executor of this my will and I do hereby declare that my said execs or admin and the survivors of same sell and (?...?) times out of first money that comes to his (?...?) to pay himself for trouble and (?work?) of same if any (?...?) may come to anything that fall into his hands (?...?) except through neglect or defaults shall not be responsible for same.

I declare this to be my last will and testament.
