INJURIES CAUSE DEATH OF PRICE - Kentucky Times Star, January 28, 1918, Pg 12:

ENGINEER WAS SCALED IN WRECK IN KENTUCKY - John E. Price, 62, L. & N. Railroad engineer, died Sunday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Covington of injuries received in a wreck at Conway, Rockcastle County, Thursday night. Mr. Price was the engineer on northbound Passenger Train No. 34 from Atlanta GA. He was scalded and his fireman, Walter Piper of Covington also was injured. Mr Price is survived by a widow and several children.

The funeral of J. E. Price, engineer on the K. C. Division of the L. & N. R. R., who died Sunday, at St. Elizabeth Hospital from injuries received in a wreck Jan. 24 at Conway, will be held Wedesday at 2 p. m. from his home, 1813 Madison av. Covington.
Services will be continued at Highland Cemetery, Rev. A. C. Arnold of the Madison Avenue Baptist Church will officiate.
Price was pulling passerger train No. 34. running between Cincinnati and the south, when the accident occurred, injuring himself and fireman, Walter Piper, Price was bably scaled, yet made a brave fight for life.
He was one of the oldest and most faithful engineers on the K. C. Division, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
He had been an engineer on this road for 35 years, and consequently has witnessed much development on this road.
Price leaves a widow, two sons, Thomas and Edward Price, and three daughters, Mrs C. L. Hildreth, Mrs. Frank Walker and Miss Mabel Price.
