Col. J. Crockett Sayers, a well-known and highly respected citizen of this county, who has held various civic and political positions of trust and preferment died at his residence, near Robert's store, in the upper end of the county, on Sunday morning last in the forty-fifth year of his age. Sayers were shocked at the announcement of his sudden death last Sunday, following so closely the announcement that he was steadily recovering from a recent attack of illness.
