Ratliff Family at War


Mr. and Mrs. Ernest and Mollie Trusty Ratliff

    Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ratliff of West Van Lear, have sent three sons to the forces of Uncle sam.

    Langley, the eldest 29, enlisted in the Air Corps on Ferbruary 18, and is an electric welder at Crider field, Mo.   

    Lenzie, 22, enlisted June 25, 1941 and is an ambulance driver in the Air Corps at McClelland Field, Ca.

Matthew Ratliff, 17, enlisted November 21, 1941 and is stationed in New Orleans.

    Besides the three sons, Mr and Mrs. Ernset Ratliff have six other children. Two married daughters, Mrs. Herschall Hitchcock, Van Lear, and Mrs. Ruby Collins, Esco WV, and Mary, Martha, Ernest and Curtis at home.

    They are natives of Johnson County. Mrs. Ratliff is the former Miss Mollie Trusty. Mr. Ratliff is employed by the Consolidation Coal Company.
