Leon Preston

     Funeral services for Leon H. Preston, 61, of Stafford St., Paintsville, who died Tuesday, will be at 11 a.m. at House of Prayer Church at Wittensville by Rev. John Skaggs. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery at Barnetts Creek. The body is at Paintsville Funeral Home, where friends may call.

     Mr. Preston was born June 11, 1923, in Johnson County, a son of the late Bill R. and Della McKenzie Preston. He was area manager for the Woodmen of the World Insurance Co., a World War II veteran, and a member of the House of Prayer Church.

     Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Castle Preston, and a son, Walter Lee Preston of Paintsville.

     The obit also leaves out his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America in the 1940’s and ‘50’s attaining the order of the arrow and assistant scoutmaster titles. He was an active volunteer fireman for the City of Paintsville for many years. He also served on the Kentucky Apple Festival Board and was chairman of the flea market.
