Philip Rushing to Thomas Barnes - Deed Book N Page 269

Know all men by these presents that I P Rushing of the county of Hickman & state of Ky have this day sold to Tho Barnes of the same county & state a certain yoke of Oxen the same that I now own about four years old printed & blackish color – the said Barnes to have & hold said Oxen for his own use & benefits with the following conditions that whereas said Rushing has executed to said Barnes his promissory note of this date & due Dec 25/1869 for the sum of $60.00. Now if said Rushing pays or causes to be paid said note when due – above mortgage to be null & void otherwise to remain in full force & virtue. Given under my hand this Feb’y 10th 1869.

I Thomas M Kempo clerk of the county court for the said county do certify that this mortgage from Philip Rushing to Thomas Barnes  was on the 10th day of February 1869 acknowledged before W.P. Griffey my regular authorized deputy in said County by sid Rushing to be his act and deed as appear from an endorsement herein in the handwriting of my said deputy.
