This indenture made this first day of April and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five Between Drury Smith of the County of Hickman and State of Kentucky of the one part, and Hannah P Smith, his daughter, of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Drury Smith for and in consideration of the great love and parental care I have for my above named Daughter Hannah, I do give and freely donate to her and to the lawful heirs of her body should ever have any, I fence a certain Negro girl named Mary about twelve years old, and I the said Drury Smith have bought said girl Mary for my said daughter Hannah and having then verbally given said Negro slave to said daughter do this day before these presents bind myself my heirs and assigns firmly to confirm said act and deed of gift and forever to warrant and defend the title, possession, profits and property of the said Negro girl Mary unto the said Hannah P Smith and her heirs as above stated if she should ever have any.

 In witness whereof I the said Drury Smith have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year first above written.

Commonwealth of Kentucky Hickman County to wit

I Henry L Edrington clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that the foregoing bill of sale from Drury Smith to Hannah P Smith was produced to me on the 29th of Mary 1835 and acknowledged by said Drury Smith to be his act and Deed whereupon said Bill of Sale together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly recorded in my office. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 23rd day of June 1835
