On this 29th day of May 1833 before William Wheeler, a Justice of the Peace for said County of Garrard, and as such, one of the judges of the Garrard County Court, personally appeared Taylor Noel, a resident citizen of Garrard County in the State of Kentucky, aged 82 years, who doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.

He states, that he was born the 10th January 1757, and that he entered the service of the United States in the year ---- whilst Patrick Henry was Governor of Virginia, and served a tour of duty down to the Hogan’s Dismal Swamp under the command of Capt. Thomas Evens. That he served three months in this tour.

That he again entered the service under Col. H--- Richardson as a volunteer, and was at the capture of Cornwallis, in which tour he served three months.

That he resided in Essex County in the State of Virginia when he entered the service, and now resides in the County of Garrard, State of Kentucky, where he has resided for about 20 years. He has no documentary evidence in his possession in relation to his services, and knows of no person living in the State of Kentucky by whom he can prove his service.

He further states that he is now very old and infirm, too much so to travel to the Garrard County Court, and that his memory is greatly impaired, so much so that he cannot recollect many of the incidents attending his service.
