She attended Marysville Freewill Baptist Church, and was a member of Delaware, Ohio, Eagles Lodge Auxiliary. She was born January 24, 1935, in Paintsville, the daughter of the late Eugene and Alma Welles Wells. She is survived by one daughter, Nikki O'Connors; two sons, Brian Theresa O'Connors of Sunbury, Chris O'Connors of Marysville; three sisters, Gwen Alexander of Prestonsburg, Evelyn "Susie" Wells of Lexington, Elaine Andrusia of Charlotte, North Carolina; a brother, Ralph Wells of Prestonsburg-, and seven grandchildren. Swallow of Arlington, Virginia; three brothers, Chester Bowling of Indianapolis, Indiana, Robert E. Bowling of Stone Mountain. Age, 49, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Drift, died Monday, February 5, 2001. She was a member of the Victory Chapel. She is survived by her husband, James Olah. She was the daughter of the late Curtis Carroll and Mollie Arnold. Other survivors include one son, Johnny Martin of Pikeville; four sisters, Shirley Parsons, Pearlie Jackson, Ruby Wells and Rosetta Hale; two grandchildren, four stepchildren and five step-grandchildren. OLIN, Walter John

Age 80, died November 3, 2005, at his home in Charlottesville, Virginia, following a battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by one daughter, from his first marriage, Virginia Margaret Olin; his father, Vallintine Peter Olin; his mother, Nora K. Snelling Olin; and one sister, Alice Olin Brenner. He was retired from the Navy, after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Margaret McCary Olin; his two sisters: Margaret Olin Christenson of Otis, Oregon, and Helen Olin Devour of Florence, Oregon. He is also survived by four children from his first marriage: Walter John Olin Jr., of Louisville, Rosalyn Olin Frost of Somerset, Robin Olin Branham of Prestonsburg, and Bruce William Olin of Crestwood; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Meadows Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, on November 6, 2005. Burial will be December 16, 2005, at 11 a.m., in Arlington National Cemetery, in Washington, D.C. He was a former C&O Railroad employee. He is survived by his wife, Diana Crisp Osborne. OSBORNE, Alex

Age 76, of Honaker, died at the Prestonsburg General Hospital, Monday night September 15 after a few days illness. He was a retired miner and had resided at Honaker for the past five years. He worked for several years at Red Jacket, WV. After his retirement from the mines Mr. Osborne resided on Mare Creek for awhile but bought a farm on Little Mud creek and moved there, engaging in farming. He was married to Margaret Collins of Johnson County. Surviving besides his wife are the following children: Steve Osborne, Detroit; Orville Osborne, Glendale, Ariz; Lester Osborne, Honaker; Emery Osborne, Red Jacket, WV; Melvin Osborne, Detroit; and Mrs. Anna Stratton of Mare Creek. One brother, Arrie Osborne, of Auxier survives. He was an employee of the circulation department for the Floyd County Times; and a 2004 graduate of Prestonsburg High School. He is survived by his wife, Samantha Allen Osborne. Mother of 17 Victim At 45 of Paralysis; Rites Held Tuesday A paralytic stroke suffered the preceding night resulted in the death Monday morning at her home at Dony of Mrs. Darkie Alley Osborne, 45 years old, wife of John B. Osborne. Daughter of the late Tom and Martha Alley, she was a native of the community in which she died. She was a devout member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She was the mother of 17 children, 13 of whom survive. These are: Mount B. and Olen J. Osborne, Columbus, O., Mrs. Verlie Alley, Mrs. Gracie Alley, Mrs. Tamara Debord and Owen Osborne, all of Lucasville, O., Maisel, Parisie, Vernis, Revis, George, Ulis and Jeff all of Dony. Survivors include two sons, Clarence Mitchell of Williamson, West Virginia, Glenith Osborne of Brownstown, Michigan; three daughters, Edeth Walley of Livonia, Michigan, Hester Reynolds of Nancy, Janet Howard of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; one brother, Vondall Hall of Dearing, Georgia; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Prestonsburg, and was a graduate of Prestonsburg High School, and attended Eastern State College and Pikeville College. She was a former teacher and a bookkeeper at Wholesale Appliance, Prestonsburg. Her husband, Ernest B. "Red" Osborne, preceded her in death. Survivors include one daughter, Jane Bond of Prestonsburg; four sons, William Ernest Osborne of Louisville, James Clay Osborne, and Paul L. Osborne, both of Prestonsburg, and Marshall Douglas "Doug" Osborne of Lexington; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 8, at 3 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Prestonsburg, with Rev. George Love officiating. Age49, of Paintsville, Ky. died Tuesday, August 5, 1975 at his home following an apparent heart attack. Born October 16, 1925, he was a son of Mrs. Ida Mae Hall Osborne of Melvin, Ky. and the late William Osborne, who died this past May. He was a sales representative for Metro Products Co. and a former employee of the East Kentucky Beverage Company. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. Age, 76, of Ravenswood, West Virginia, passed away February 27, 2003, at his home in Ravenswood. Born April 22, 1926, in Martin, he was the son of the late C.H. Osborne and Goldia Gayhart Osborne. He attended Eastern Kentucky University and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, B.A. He was a veteran of the 10th Armored Division, U.S. army, World War II, and was the owner/operator of WMOV Radio for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Ravenswood VFW Post 6669; the Masonic Fraternity, Ashton Lodge No. 12; Jackson Chapter No. 48, RAM; Dowell Commandery, 28, Knights Templar; and Nemesis Shrine in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He was a First Class Licensed Radio and Telephone Engineer. Following graduation from college, he built and operated radio stations WDOC and WPRT, in Prestonsburg. He received the Kentucky Colonel service award for his broadcasts of the 1957 Prestonsburg flood, and the 1958 school bus disaster. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Osborne of Ravenswood, West Virginia. Age 94, of Fort Ave., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born April 19, 1913 in Beaver, Ky., the daughter of Henry and Mellie (McCown) Tackett and had been an area resident since 1955. While in Kentucky, she ran and owned Osborne"s Grocery and Osborne"s General Merchandise for over 10 years. She also ran her own ceramics shop. A member of the Pentecostal Church of God, she had served the Lord since she was a young girl and had joined the Old Regular Baptist Church 56 years ago. An extremely hard-working, wonderful and remarkable woman, she always felt if you believed it, you could do it. Mom touched many lives through her love of Jesus and raised 10 kids who never wanted for anything. Her survivors include nine children, Beatrice (Tim) Root, Tavis Osborne, and Bettie J. (Roy) Frasure, all of Ashtabula, Hazel C. (Allen) Reed of N. Kingsville, Zettie M. He was a miner for 24 years before retiring from Stephens Elkhorn Coal Company, where he was a lifetime member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a farmer and a lover of God"s creation, aminals, flowers, trees and gardening. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, with his family and friends. He is survived by Edith Ousley, his wife of 59 years. Age 41, of Martin, Ky., passed away Sunday, September 30, 2001, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky., following an extended illness. He was born April 1, 1961, in McDowell, Ky., the son of the late Estill Ousley and Ada Hamilton Ousley. He was a coal miner. Survivors include one daughter, Christen Ousley of Martin, Ky.; three brothers, Steve Ousley and Jack Ousley, both of Inez, Ky., and Mike Ousley of Prestonsburg, Ky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Judith Johnson. Funeral services for Ricky D. Ousley were conducted Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergyman, Dan Heintzel-man, officiating. She is survived by her husband, James E. Ousley. Other survivors include one brother, George Gray Jr. of Langley. Age, 76, of Claypool, Indiana, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at her residence. Born March 3, 1928, in Dock, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Phiobla (Hyden) Bradley. She had been a Claypool resident since 1962, moving from Dock. She was employed by Jomac Glove Co., Warsaw, Indiana, and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Kosciusko County. She was married to Odis Ousley, in Prestonsburg, on November 16, 1945, and he preceded her in death on October 10, 2002. Survivors include two sons: Dan (Sue) Ousley of Silver Lake, Indiana, and Kenneth (Maureen) Ousley of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two daughters: Carol (Richmond) Salmons of Claypool, Indiana, and Debra (John) Seitz of Mentone, Indiana; four sisters: Alva Hackworth, Phyllis Bolen, Winnie Ousley and Dorothy Bolen, all of Kentucky; six brothers: Farish Bradley, Frank Bradley, Jimmy Bradley, and Odis Bradley, all of Kentucky, and Jake Junior Bradley and Loren Bradley, both of Indiana; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was born May 27, 1919, at Prestonsburg, Ky., a son of the late John and Mattie Owens. He was a veteran, having served in the Army during W. W. II. He was a coal miner, a member of the Corn Fork Freewill Baptist Church, and a member of V.F.W. Post 5839 at Prestonsburg, Ky. He was married to Vada (Ratliff) Owens, who survives him. There are six sons and three daughters, who survive: Arnold Owens of Stone, Ky., Paul Owens of Hardy, Ky., Ellery Owens and John Albert Owens, both of Prestonsburg, Ky., Donald Ray Owens of Keaton, Ky., and Terry Owens of Sebring, Fla.; Alma Sue Pulliam of Auxier, Ky., Carol Goble of Harrison Township, Mi., and Patty Ann Collins of Prestonsburg, Ky.; 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Age, 86, of Prestonsburg, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Quentin Scholtz officiating. Mrs. Owens died Friday at highlands Regional Medical Center Following a short illness. A daughter of the late Samuel and Anna Banner May, she was born March 10, 1900 at Allen. She and her husband John D. Owens, who preceded her in death, owned and operated the Greyhound bus station at Pikeville for over 30 years. Surviving are two daughters, Margaret (Jill) Wells, of Auxier, and Anna Castner, of Louisville, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Burial was made in the May Cemetery, at Allen.
