Proctor, Owsley County, Kentucky
11th January 1856

Mr Daniel Hoover Esqr

I have received a letter again from the comptroller of North Carolina.  Mr. George W. Brooks, upon the question I laid before you when I last saw you.  He still writes in substance what I did before.  I have not since I saw you, pressed the commissioner of pensions to take up the case, because I have not as yet got the information McQueen to say but little about the case, for he is doing the case no good the way he is talking.   I should of been at your house before this time if winter had not been so severe.   You may depend whenever the case is allowed I will come to your house immediately, so that you and Bill McQueen can take steps as you may choose.  I intend to come to see you just as soon as the weather brakes.

I am yours Ever True

W.M. Fulkerson

Note:  The above letter pertains to the Revolutionary War pension for Daniel Hoover's father-in-law, John McQueen, who died 14 February 1855.  He had attempted to get pension started but died in the process.  Legal problems resulted as a result of this.
