Joe Fike, age 84, died at his home May 26, due to the infirmities of age. Mr. Fike was a farmer and a leading citizen of his neighbors. He is survived by his wife, Miss Lucinda Burns, and seven children, four sons, Lee Fike, of Evelyn, John Will Fike of Old Landing, James Fike of Ravenna, and Grover Fike, of Miller's Creek; three daughters, Mrs. Simpson Horn of Old Landing, Mrs. Ray Goosey, and Miss Eunice Fike of Evelyn, the latter who resided with their father and one Elihue Fike of Hamilton, Ohio.

Notes for DOWTHULA DIXON:
First time Dowthula saw Hargis walking along the railroad tracks on her way home from school. She said, "He's a good looking man, I'm gonna marry him." Whoever she was with told her he was spoken for and she said, "We'll see about that."
Stories told to me by Granny:
A woman was arranged to get married but she loved another man. On her wedding day she put on her bonnet and climbed up the steps women used to mount a horse and stood there. Everyone thought she was nuts until a man rode up and she jumped on. She was never seen again.
A Miller cousin took a bath, put on a new dress and wrote a suicide note stating she was clean and in a new dress so to just bury her. She shot herself though and of coarse couldn't just be buried. They found out she was about 5 months pregnant by a married man.
Another cousin commited suicide by jumping in the well. The only thing people seemed to care about was that she "ruined that perfectly good well water." This story was told to granny by her aunt.
