On this 31 day of January AD 1851, personally appeared before me, John Hibbard, a Justice of the Peace, duly authorized to administer oaths within and for the county and state aforesaid, Daniel Garrard aged 70 years, a resident of Clay County in the State of Kentucky who being duly sworn according to law declares, that he is the identical Daniel Garrard who was a captain in the company commanded by himself in the 2nd regiment of Ky volunteers commanded by William Jennings in the Northwestern army that he volunteered at Manchester, Ky on or about the 25th day of June AD 1812 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war, for the term of seven months and one day and was honorably discharged at Cincinnati, Ohio on the 9th day of March AD 1813 as will appear by the muster roll of said company.
