Records transcribed from the Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Kentucky: soldiers of the War of 1812. USA: Adjutant General's Office, 1891, pages 125-126 compiled by Marvin Allen, June 2, 2018.

Records show Kentucky supplied 25,010 soldiers for this sometimes forgotten war, more than all other states combined. In fact, 62% of the men who died during the war were from Kentucky.

According to Quisenberry in his book Kentucky in the War of 1812, pages 86-87, the 2nd Regiment was commanded by Colonel John Donaldson of Clark County, and was composed of the companies of Captains Isaac Cunningham and James Sympson, of Clark County; Richard Menefee, of Bath County; George Matthews and George W. Botts, of Fleming County, and James Mason, of Montgomery County. Bath County's militia participated in the decisive Battle of the Thames, where Shawnee Chief Tecumseh was killed Oct. 5, 1813.
