Barren County Kentucky Deed Book 6, page 265

This indenture made and entered into this 8th day of October 1868 Between Wm Wells Jr. and his wife of the County of Barren State of Kentucky of the first part and Redin Smith of the same County and State aforesaid of the second part. Wittnesseth: For and in consideration of Eight hundred and twenty nine dollars Secured to be paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged. The said Wm Wells Jr. and wife have and do by these presents give Sell and convey to said Smith a certain tract of land situated in Barren County Kentucky on Skaggs Creek. The same or a part of the same lands conveyed to the said Wm Wells Jr. by Heargrove 8 April 1864 And laying on the South Side of Skaggs Creek and bounded as follows. Beginning at a Sycamore and Sugartree and hickory & from bean corners to Eubank and the bank of the Creek thence S. 15 E. 100 poles to a white oak & beech. Thence S. 13 E. 90 poles to a corner (a Stone in Eubanks line). Thence and with Eubanks line to George Whitlock and with Whitlocks line to School Creek, and with the meanderings of School Creek to Skaggs Creek. And with the meanderings of Skaggs Creek to the Beginning. Suppose to contain seventy five acres more or less to have and to hold unto him the said Smith his heirs and assigns forever and we the said Wm Wells Jr & wife covenants to warrent and defend the title use possession and occupations of said land and all its appurtenance from claim or claims of all and every person whatever unto him the said Smith his heirs and assigns forever.

In witness whereof the said Wells & wife have hereunto set their hands and seal this day and date first herein written. For the payment of the aforesaid consideration the said Wm Wells Jr a lein on said land. (signed) William Wells Sal----? Wells

State of Kentucky Barren County sct.

I J. P. Nichols clerk of the county courts for said county certify that the foregoing Deed from Wm Wells Jr. & Solemen his wife to Reden Smith was on the 9th day of October 1868 acknowledged before John A. Locke an acting deputy clerk for me by the Grantors to do their act and deed and filed in my office for Record duly stamped thereupon the same and this certificate have been this day recorded.
