BRUNSON, Stout Pennsylvania S38572

Allen County, Kentucky. 14 Oct. 1833 in open court, STOUT BRUNSON aged 84 deposes: that he enlisted 1778 with Capt. ALEXANDER PATERSON of Regulars at Strout's Mill, Pa. Was in the Battle of Monmouth and "from the excessive heat and exertion of that day he became sick and was sent to the hospital at Princeton". That he was on guard near Morristown in 1781 when the troops of the Pa. Line revolted. This service was 2 years 11 months15 days.

In 1781 he enlisted in Marine Service under Capt. JOHN HENDERSON went on board to the Fugate "South Carolina" to be under the command of Capt. JOHN TOMER(?). Said frigate, the ship "Hope" and a big schooner excepted, by the British and conveyed to NY. Deponent was there confined aboard the British prison ship "Integrity" some months, but he escaped in Feb. or March 1782.

That he was born 28 March 1749 at Kingwood, NJ when called into service he lived in NJ then he moved to Somerset County, NJ, then to Warren (now called Allen) County, Ky.

Allen county, Ky. 14 April 1834, STOUT BRUNSON in open court swears to an amendment to his original declaration.

JOHN S. GIBSON, ZACHARIAH HOPSON, JOSHUA BUCKANON and ALEXANDER RITCHIE swear to having know STOUT BRUNSON at least 35 years., (Ritchie for 18 years) and known him to be a man of truth.

Fayette County, Ky. 10 March 1834. JOHN BARTON aged 78 deposes: He has known STOUT BRUNSON a great many years. They were raised in the same neighborhood in Hunterdon County, NJ. From his own knowledge he know him to be a Rev. Soldier. This deponent was BRUNSON at his (BARTON) father's house near Princeton while he was with the army and was then performing duty as a soldier.

Covering Jacket: Ky.---26695, Stout Brunson, Allen County, Ky., Pvt., in the Co. of Capt. Patterson, regiment of Col. Cook in Pa. line for 2. Inscribed on Ky. Roll at $80 per year to begin 4 March, 1831. Certificate of Pension issued 29 April 1834.
