Indenture of Apprenticeship

The Commonwealth of Kentucky

 

This Indenture made this _14_ day of ___December_ one thousand eight hundred and ___ninety-one__ between __The infant GEORGE MARTIN WASHINGTON TINSLEY____ by N.J. Guy, Clerk of the county court of Allen County, in the State of Kentucky, of one part, and ____M.M. TINSLEY_of the other part;

 

Whereas, by an act of the General Assembly, the Judge of said Court is empowered to bind out orphans and poor children, whoch parents are incapable of bringing them up in moral courses, therefore the Court made the following order, to-wit:

the Infant GEORGE MARTIN WASHINGTON TINSLEY age 2 years old he and he is hereby apprenticed to M.M. TINSLEY until the said infant Shall arrive at the age of 21 years, having no estate & no mother living & his father consenting in court that he may be apprenticed to M.M. TINSLEY

 

Now, therefore, this Indenture Witnesseth, that the said N.J. Guy, clerk of said Court, as above recited, hath put, place dna bound, and by these presents, doth put, place and bind the said ___George Martin Washington Tinsley__ apprentice to and under the said __M.M. Tinsley___ with _him_ to dwell, and _him_ to serve, in the condition, duty, and character of an apprecntice, until the said __G.M.W. TInsley___ shall arrive at the age of ___twenty one___ years, fully to be completed and ended--- that, during all the said period, the said ___G.M.W. Tinsley____shall faithfully serve the said __M.M. Tinsley__ master, in all lawful business, according to the best of _his__ wit and ability, and in all things honestly, orderly and obediently demeand and behave __himself__; and the said ___M.M.Tinsley___  doth for __his__ heirs, executors, and administrators, covenant and agree with the said ___G.M.W. TInsley__ that he, the said __M.M. TInsley___ will teach the said __G.M.W. Tinsley__ the trade, art, and business of __Farming_ and will find, provide for, and allow to the said ___G.M.W. TInsley_  sufficient diet, wearing apparel, washing, lodging, proper medical attention, and all other things usually allowed to apprentices by good and just masters, and will treat _him_  with humanity --- that he the said __M.M. TInsley_will  __ teach the said G.M.W. Tinsley to read &  to write the English language and will give him a common school education

 

In witness whereof, the said _G.M.W. TInsley__ by the said N.J. Guy, Clerk as aforesaid, and the said __M.M. TInsley__  hever hereunto set their hands and seals, on the day and year first above written
